American wildcard Katrina Scott won against Mexican Renata Zarazua 7-6 (8), 4-6, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the Midland Open at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
Scott, ranked No 444, will face the winner of the match between wildcard Mccartney Kessler and No 7 seed Emina Bektas next.
