Simona Halep to make immediate return at Miami Open
The Romanian is free to play again after having her four-year ban for two doping offences reduced to nine months
Simona Halep is to make an immediate return to the WTA Tour, beginning her comeback in the Miami Open later this month.
The Romanian is free to play again after her four-year ban for two doping offences was reduced to nine months on appeal by the Court of Arbitration for Sport earlier this week.
“I’m thrilled to let you all know that I will be making my return to the WTA Tour in two weeks at the @miamiopen!,” former world No 1 Halep said on Instagram.
“Thank you to the tournament for giving me this opportunity and I cannot wait to be back on court and competing. See you all soon!”
Halep has not played since the US Open in September 2022, having tested positive for Roxadustat in New York that year.
