Alert: Kvitova beats Rybakina for Miami Open title
Petra Kvitova lifted the Miami trophy after beating Elena Rybakina in straight sets on Sunday afternoon.
Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 15 seed, won the Miami Open final by beating Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 10 seed, 7-6(14), 6-2 at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.
Kvitova, ranked No 12, defeated Linda Noskova (6-3, 6-0), Croat Donna Vekic, the No 22 seed (6-4, 7-6 (3)), Russian qualifier Varvara Gracheva (7-5, 7-6 (5)), Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 18 seed (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) and Romanian Sorana Cirstea (7-5, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Miami tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Rybakina, ranked No 7, defeated Russian Anna Kalinskaya (7-5, 4-6, 6-3), Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 21 seed (3-6, 7-5, 6-3), Belgian Elise Mertens (6-4, 6-3), Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 25 seed (6-3, 6-0) and American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed (7-6 (3), 6-4).
