American Coco Gauff, the No 6 seed, reached the third round of the Miami Open by beating Canadian Rebecca Marino 6-4, 6-3 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday evening.
Gauff, ranked No 6, will face Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 27 seed, next.
Marino, ranked No 83, won against Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (7-6 (4), 6-2) in the previous round of the Miami tournament.
