Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 18 seed, moved into the last 16 of the Miami Open by defeating Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 9 seed, 7-6 (8), 6-3 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.
Alexandrova, ranked No 18, will face Canadian Bianca Andreescu next.
Bencic, ranked No 9, won against Canadian Leylah Fernandez (6-1, 6-1) during the second round of the Miami tournament.
