Miami Open: Alexandrova edges past Townsend, books spot in third round
Ekaterina Alexandrova edged out Taylor Townsend 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 on Friday. She’ll play the winner of the match between Canadian Leylah Fernandez and Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 9 seed, in the next round

Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 18 seed, edged out American Taylor Townsend 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 to move into the third round of the Miami Open at the Hard Rock Stadium on Friday.
Alexandrova, ranked No 18, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Leylah Fernandez and Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 9 seed, next.
Townsend, ranked No 123, won against Hungarian Anna Bondar (6-4, 6-0) in the previous round of the Miami tournament.
