Mérida Open: Stefanini knocks out No 4 seed Niemeier

Italian Lucrezia Stefanini advanced to the second round of the Mérida Open by beating German Jule Niemeier, the No 4 seed, 6-3, 6-2 at the Yucatan Country Club on Tuesday.
Stefanini, ranked No 163, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo and Mexican wildcard Ana Sofia Sanchez next.
