Mérida Open: Sonmez advances to second round
Zeynep Sonmez defeated Maria Lourdes Carle 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 on Tuesday. She’ll play Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot in the next round

Zeynep Sonmez reached the second round of the Mérida Open by winning against Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 6 seed, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 at the Yucatan Country Club on Tuesday.
Sonmez, ranked No 127, will play Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot next.
