Mérida Open: Peterson advances to second round

Swede qualifier Rebecca Peterson won against Argentinian Nadia Podoroska 6-3, 7-5 to move into the second round of the Mérida Open at the Yucatan Country Club on Tuesday night.

Peterson, ranked No 140, will face the winner of the match between Mexican wildcard Fernanda Contreras Gomez and American Alycia Parks, the No 5 seed, next.
