Mérida Open: Korneeva upsets Blinkova to reach last eight
The Russian upset fellow countrywoman Blinkova via a stunning performance

Alina Korneeva advanced to the last eight of the Mérida Open by beating No 5 seed Anna Blinkova 7-5, 6-2 at the Yucatan Country Club on Friday.
Korneeva, ranked No 254, will play Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo next.
Alina Korneeva won against American Alycia Parks (6-3, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Mérida tournament, Blinkova, ranked No 75, benefited from the abandonment of Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (2-6, 6-4, 4-0).
