Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, the No 7 seed, advanced to the second round of the Mérida Open by winning against Swiss Viktorija Golubic 6-0, 6-3 at the Yucatan Country Club on Monday night.
Cocciaretto, ranked No 54, will play the winner of the match between Russian qualifier Elina Avanesyan and Chinese Xinyu Wang next.
