American Katie Volynets, the No 8 seed, defeated Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 to move into the last four of the Makarska Open on Friday afternoon.
Volynets, ranked No 108, will play the winner of the match between Chinese Xiyu Wang, the No 4 seed, and No 6 seed Brenda Fruhvirtova next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old American won against Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich (6-3, 6-0) and New Zealander Lulu Sun (6-4, 7-5).
Jeanjean, ranked No 148, beat Croat wildcard Tena Lukas (6-2, 6-2) and Romanian Miriam Bulgaru (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
