American Katie Volynets, the No 8 seed, reached the final of the Makarska Open by winning against Chinese Xiyu Wang, the No 4 seed, 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday evening.
Volynets, ranked No 108, will play the winner of the match between Croat Petra Martic, the No 5 seed, and Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the second seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old American defeated Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich (6-3, 6-0), New Zealander Lulu Sun (6-4, 7-5) and Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean (3-6, 6-4, 6-1).
Wang, ranked No 61, won against Croat qualifier Sara Svetac (6-2, 4-6, 6-1), Croat Lucija Ciric Bagaric (7-5, 7-6 (6)) and No 6 seed Brenda Fruhvirtova (5-0 ret.) in the previous rounds.
