Makarska Open: Sherif beats Hibino to reach semi-finals
Mayar Sherif beat Nao Hibino 6-1, 6-3. She’ll face the winner of the match between Petra Martic and Maya Joint in the next round

Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the second seed, beat Japanese Nao Hibino, the No 7 seed, 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the semi-finals of the Makarska Open on Friday.
Sherif, ranked No 53, will face the winner of the match between Croat Petra Martic, the No 5 seed, and Australian qualifier Maya Joint next.
Ahead of her victory, the Egyptian beat Latvian Darja Semenistaja (6-1, 6-3) and edged out Russian qualifier Maria Timofeeva (6-2, 3-6, 7-5).
Hibino, ranked No 96, defeated Hungarian Anna Bondar (7-5, 7-6 (6)) and German Noma Noha Akugue (6-0, 6-0) in the previous rounds.
