Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the second seed, beat Latvian Darja Semenistaja 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the last 16 of the Makarska Open on Tuesday afternoon.
Sherif, ranked No 53, will face the winner of the match between Filipino Alexandra Eala and Russian qualifier Maria Timofeeva next.
