Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 3 seed, defeated Slovenian Polona Hercog 6-0, 6-3 to move into the last 16 of the Makarska Open on Tuesday evening.
Schmiedlova, ranked No 54, will play the winner of the match between Australian qualifier Maya Joint and Croat Antonia Ruzic next.
