Makarska Open: Hibino hands Akugue double-bagel loss to make quarter-finals

Japanese Nao Hibino, the No 7 seed, won against German Noma Noha Akugue 6-0, 6-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the Makarska Open on Thursday afternoon.
Hibino, ranked No 96, will play the winner of the match between Russian qualifier Maria Timofeeva and Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the second seed, next.
The Japanese beat Hungarian Anna Bondar (7-5, 7-6 (6)) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Noha Akugue, ranked No 175, won against Russian Polina Kudermetova (6-1, 6-0).
