Romanian Miriam Bulgaru won against Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the top seed, 7-6 (6), 6-2 to move into the last 16 of the Makarska Open on Wednesday.
Bulgaru, ranked No 199, will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean and Croat wildcard Tena Lukas next.
