Makaraska Open: Sramkova books spot in last 4

Slovak qualifier Rebecca Sramkova reached the last four of the Makaraska Open by edging out Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl, the No 6 seed, 7-6 (8), 5-7, 7-5 at Tennis Center Makarska on Friday evening.
Sramkova, ranked No 222, will play Italian Jasmine Paolini, the second seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Makarska tournament, the Slovak beat Slovenian Dalila Jakupovic (2-6, 6-1, 6-2) and American Peyton Stearns, the No 4 seed (6-3, 7-5).
Baindl, ranked No 83, won against Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic (7-5, 6-1) and Russian Darya Astakhova (6-2, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
