Makaraska Open: Sherif moves into final
Mayar Sherif won against Diane Parry 7-5, 6-2 on Saturday evening and will play Italian Jasmine Paolini, the second seed, for the title
Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 3 seed, moved into the final of the Makaraska Open by winning against Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 5 seed, 7-5, 6-2 at Tennis Center Makarska on Saturday evening.
Sherif, ranked No 54, will play Italian Jasmine Paolini, the second seed, next.
The Egyptian defeated Slovenian Tamara Zidansek (6-3, 6-2), Belarusian wildcard Kristina Dmitruk (6-2, 6-4) and Chinese Yue Yuan (6-3, 7-6 (5)) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Makarska tournament, Parry, ranked No 79, beat Croat wildcard Petra Marcinko (6-2, 6-4), Romanian qualifier Miriam Bulgaru (6-2, 4-6, 6-3) and Czech Linda Noskova, the top seed (1-6, 7-6 (1), 6-3).
