Madrid Open: Sabalenka gets past 16-year-old Andreeva, advances to quarter-finals
Aryna Sabalenka won against Mirra Andreeva 6-3, 6-1 on Monday and will play Egyptian Mayar Sherif in the next round
Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed, moved into the last eight of the Madrid Open by beating Russian wildcard Mirra Andreeva 6-3, 6-1 at the Caja Magica on Monday.
Sabalenka, ranked No 2, will play Egyptian Mayar Sherif next.
Ahead of her victory, the Belarusian won against Romanian Sorana Cirstea (6-4, 6-3) and Colombian wildcard Camila Osorio (6-4, 7-5).
Andreeva, ranked No 194, won against Canadian Leylah Fernandez (6-3, 6-4), Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 13 seed (7-6 (6), 6-3) and Pole Magda Linette, the No 17 seed (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
