Dutch qualifier Arantxa Rus moved into the 64 of the Madrid Open by defeating American Amanda Anisimova 7-5, 6-2 at the Caja Magica on Wednesday.
Rus, ranked No 107, will face No 9 seed Maria Sakkari next.
