Madrid Open: Potapova makes round of 32, faces compatriot Kudermetova next

Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 21 seed, won against Romanian Jaqueline Cristian 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 to reach the round of 32 at the Madrid Open at the Caja Magica on Friday.
Potapova, ranked No 25, will face Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 12 seed, next.
Cristian, ranked No 168, edged out American Sloane Stephens (5-7, 6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Madrid tournament.
