Madrid Open: Pegula reaches the quarter-finals
Jessica Pegula beat Martina Trevisan 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 on Monday evening and will face No 12 seed Veronika Kudermetova in the next round
American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, beat Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 18 seed, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open at the Caja Magica on Monday evening.
Pegula, ranked No 3, will face No 12 seed Veronika Kudermetova next.
The American, runner-up in 2022, lost her first set in Spain. She won against Pole qualifier Magdalena Frech (7-6 (5), 6-3) and Czech Marie Bouzkova, the No 29 seed (6-4, 7-6 (2)) ahead of her victory.
Trevisan, ranked No 20, won against Canadian qualifier Eugenie Bouchard (6-2, 7-5) and American Alycia Parks (7-6 (3), 6-1) before this loss.
