Madrid Open: Paolini knocks out Garcia in upset to make last 16

Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 12 seed, reached the last 16 of the Madrid Open by defeating Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 21 seed, 6-3, 6-2 at the Caja Magica.
Paolini, ranked No 13, will play Russian Mirra Andreeva next.
The Italian won against Andorran wildcard Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (6-0, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Madrid tournament, Garcia, ranked No 24, won against Chinese Xinyu Wang (6-1, 6-4).
