Madrid Open: Ostapenko books spot in third round

Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 19 seed, defeated Czech Linda Fruhvirtova 6-0, 6-3 to move into the third round of the Madrid Open at the Caja Magica on Thursday.
Ostapenko, ranked No 22, will play the winner of the match between Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 14 seed, and Belgian Maryna Zanevska next.
In the previous round of the Madrid tournament, Fruhvirtova, ranked No 58, won against American Katie Volynets (6-3, 7-5).
