Madrid Open: Osaka nets first clay-court win of the year
Naomi Osaka won against Greet Minnen 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday. She’ll face No 15 seed Liudmila Samsonova in the next round
Japanese Naomi Osaka defeated Belgian lucky loser Greet Minnen 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the second round of the Madrid Open at the Caja Magica on Wednesday.
Osaka, ranked No 197, hit eight aces as she set up a clash with No 15 seed Liudmila Samsonova next. It was her first clay-court win since Madrid 2022.
