Madrid Open: Navarro beats former French Open semi-finalist Podoroska
The American will meet Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 11 seed, or Italian qualifier Sara Errani in the next round

American Emma Navarro, the No 19 seed, continued her superb run of form in 2024 with a win over Argentine Nadia Podoroska at the Madrid Open on Thursday.
Navarro won 6-2, 6-1 at the Caja Magica over the former French Open semi-finalist to move into the third round in Madrid.
Navarro, ranked No 23, will face the winner of the match between Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 11 seed, and Italian qualifier Sara Errani next.
Podoroska, ranked No 66, defeated Katerina Siniakova (6-2, 7-6 (2)) in the previous round of the tournament.
