Madrid Open: Linette stops Vondrousova
Magda Linette edged out Marketa Vondrousova 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-4 on Thursday. She’ll face Russian wildcard Mirra Andreeva in the next round

Pole Magda Linette, the No 17 seed, moved into the third round of the Madrid Open by edging out Czech qualifier Marketa Vondrousova 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-4 at the Caja Magica on Thursday afternoon.
Linette, ranked No 19, will play Russian wildcard Mirra Andreeva, the 15-year-old who is riding a 15-match pro winning streak, next.
Vondrousova, ranked No 80, defeated Spanish wildcard Marina Bassols Ribera (6-1, 6-3) in the previous round of the Madrid tournament.
