Madrid Open: Fernandez reaches third round, faces Jabeur next
Leylah Fernandez won against Anastasia Potapova 7-5, 6-3 on Thursday evening and will play Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 8 seed, in the next round

Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 32 seed, advanced to the third round of the Madrid Open by beating Russian Anastasia Potapova 7-5, 6-3 at the Caja Magica on Thursday evening.
Fernandez, ranked No 35, will play Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 8 seed, next.
Potapova, ranked No 39, won against Diana Shnaider (7-5, 6-4) in the previous round of the Madrid tournament.
