Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto reached the round of 64 of the Madrid Open by beating Czech Barbora Strycova 6-3, 7-6 (5) at the Caja Magica on Tuesday.
Cocciaretto, ranked No 50, will play No 26 seed Paula Badosa next.
