Madrid Open: Alexandrova into round of 16 against Swiatek
Ekaterina Alexandrova won against Qinwen Zheng 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 on Sunday evening
Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 16 seed, was the last to move into the fourth round of the Madrid Open by winning against Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 22 seed, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 at the Caja Magica on Sunday evening.
Alexandrova, ranked No 17, will face Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, next.
In the previous round of the Madrid tournament, the Russian defeated Frenchwoman Alize Cornet (7-6 (2), 6-3). Zheng, ranked No 24, won against American Catherine McNally (6-4, 7-6 (3)).
