Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 6 seed, reached the last 16 of the LP Open by IND when Francesca Jones retired on Tuesday evening.
Semenistaja, ranked No 121, led 7-6 (5), 2-3 when Jones, ranked No 157, pulled out on Tuesday evening.
The 22-year-old Latvian will face Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic next.
