Portuguese Francisca Jorge moved into the quarter-finals of the LP Open by IND by beating Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 7 seed, 7-5, 7-5 on Wednesday night.
Jorge, ranked No 187, will face Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 3 seed, next.
The Portuguese won against Spaniard Angela Fita Boluda (6-1, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Pigossi, ranked No 129, defeated American Elizabeth Mandlik (6-4, 6-0).
