American Katie Volynets, the No 7 seed, won against French wildcard Carole Monnet 6-4, 6-3 to move into the last eight of the L’Open 35 de Saint Malo on Thursday.
Volynets, ranked No 105, will face the winner of the match between Argentinian qualifier Solana Sierra and French wildcard Lois Boisson next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old American defeated Australian Olivia Gadecki (6-4, 6-1).
Monnet, ranked No 200, won against Selena Janicijevic (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round.
