Swiss Celine Naef won against Australian Daria Saville, the No 5 seed, 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the last eight of the L’Open 35 de Saint Malo on Wednesday evening.
Naef, ranked No 167, will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Clara Burel, the top seed, and Zeynep Sonmez next.
The 18-year-old Swiss defeated Russian Anastasia Zakharova (6-2, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Saville, ranked No 96, beat Russian Polina Kudermetova (6-4, 6-4).
