Frenchwoman Diane Parry beat Czech Tereza Martincova, the No 8 seed, 6-3, 7-6 (1) to advance to the last eight of the Les Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby on Wednesday evening.
Parry, ranked No 81, will face German Tatjana Maria next.
The 19-year-old has had a very solid year on tour, reaching the third round at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon for the first time, and rising to a career-high No 76 in the WTA rankings in July.
Parry did not win a single tour-level match in 2020 or 2021, but has now won seven (7-7) in 2022.
Ahead of her victory, the Frenchwoman won against Swiss qualifier Lulu Sun (6-4, 6-2).
Martincova, ranked No 69, defeated Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin (6-2, 7-5) in the previous round.
