Russian Daria Kasatkina, the top seed, moved into the last eight of the Les Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby by defeating Pole Magdalena Frech 6-3, 6-2 on Wednesday evening.
The Russian broke Frech’s serve six times on seven opportunities.
Kasatkina, ranked No 10, will play Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz, the No 5 seed, next.
The 25-year-old is 34-16 on the season, including nine top-20 wins, five of which came against the top-10.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian won against Belgian Greet Minnen (6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2).
Frech, ranked No 104, beat Montenegrin Danka Kovinic (7-6 (3), 6-2) in the previous round.
