Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 4 seed, won against Frenchwoman Clara Burel 6-4, 6-2 to reach the last 8 of the Lausanne Open at Tennis Club du Stade-Lausanne on Wednesday evening.

Sorribes Tormo, ranked No 43, will face the winner of the match between No 6 seed Caroline Garcia and qualifier Leolia Jeanjean next.

Ahead of her victory, the Spaniard defeated American Lauren Davis (6-2, 7-6 (1)). Burel, ranked No 106, won against Chinese Lin Zhu (6-0, 6-1) in the previous round of the Lausanne.
