Lausanne Open: Niemeier advances to last eight

Jule Niemeier moved into the quarter-finals of the Lausanne Open by defeating qualifier Eva Lys 6-4, 6-2 at Tennis Club du Stade-Lausanne on Thursday.
Niemeier, ranked No 109 and quarter-finalist at Wimbledon last week, will face Russian Anastasia Potapova next.
In the previous round of the Lausanne, Jule Niemeier won against Swiss Ylena In-Albon (7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-3). In the previous round of the Lausanne, Lys, ranked No 217, won against Russian Varvara Gracheva, the No 8 seed (7-5, 6-4).
