Iasi Open: Chwalinska will play the semi-finals
Maja Chwalinska won against Rebeka Masarova 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 on Friday and will face Hungarian Panna Udvardy, the second seed, in the next round
Pole Maja Chwalinska defeated Spaniard Rebeka Masarova 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the Iasi Open at Baza Sportivă Ciric in Iasi on Friday afternoon.
Chwalinska, ranked No 160, will play Hungarian Panna Udvardy, the second seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 20-year-old Pole won against Bosnian Dea Herdzelas (6-2, 6-1) and Serb Olga Danilovic, the No 4 seed (7-6 (4), 6-4).
Masarova, ranked No 156, won against Australian lucky loser Olivia Tjandramulia (6-0, 6-0) and edged out German Nastasja Schunk (4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4) in the previous rounds.
