Alert – Ladies Open Lausanne: Cocciaretto wins the title
Elisabetta Cocciaretto won the trophy on Sunday afternoon against Clara Burel.
Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, the second seed, edged out Frenchwoman Clara Burel 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 to win the Ladies Open Lausanne tournament on Sunday.
Cocciaretto, ranked No 42, defeated Swiss wildcard Celine Naef (3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-2), Argentinian Julia Riera (6-1, 3-6, 6-3), Russian Elina Avanesyan, the No 8 seed (7-5, 6-3) and Hungarian Anna Bondar (6-7 (3), 7-6 (6), 7-5) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Burel, ranked No 84, beat Serb Olga Danilovic (6-4, 6-4), American Emma Navarro, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-2), Romanian Ana Bogdan, the No 3 seed (6-3, 1-0 ret.) and No 9 seed Diane Parry (4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3).
