L & T Mumbai Open: Tararudee makes last eight
Lanlana Tararudee beat Anna Karolina Schmiedlova on Wednesday and will play the winner of the match between Mananchaya Sawangkaew and Linda Fruhvirtova next
Thai Lanlana Tararudee moved into the quarter-finals of the L & T Mumbai Open by winning against Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 3 seed, 7-6 (5), 6-4 on Wednesday.
Tararudee, ranked No 175, will play the winner of the match between Thai Mananchaya Sawangkaew, the No 8 seed, and Linda Fruhvirtova next.
Ahead of her victory, the 20-year-old Thai beat Indian wildcard Sahaja Yamalapalli (6-3, 4-6, 6-1).
Schmiedlova, ranked No 118, defeated Australian qualifier Tina Nadine Smith (6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-1) in the previous round.
