L&T Mumbai Open: Marino beats Hontama to reach semi-finals

Canada’s Rebecca Marino, the second seed, beat Japanese Mai Hontama 6-3, 6-4 to move into the last four of the L & T Mumbai Open on Friday.
Marino, ranked No 103, will face the winner of the match between No 8 seed Mananchaya Sawangkaew and Lanlana Tararudee next.
The 34-year-old Canadian won against Sara Bejlek (6-0, 6-2) and edged out Indian wildcard Ankita Raina (7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (5)) ahead of her win today.
Earlier in the week, Hontama, ranked No 166, defeated No 6 seed Nao Hibino (7-6 (4), 6-2) and Filipino Alexandra Eala (7-6 (5), 6-2).
