Kvitova books spot in Eastbourne semis, ends Dart’s run
Petra Kvitova beat Harriet Dart 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday afternoon. She’ll play the winner of the match between Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 15 seed, and Ukrainian qualifier Lesia Tsurenko in the next round
Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 14 seed, reached the semi-finals of the Eastbourne International by defeating wildcard Harriet Dart 6-3, 6-4 at Devonshire Park Lawn Club on Thursday.
Kvitova, ranked No 31, will face the winner of the match between Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 15 seed, and Ukrainian qualifier Lesia Tsurenko next.
The Czech won against Croat qualifier Donna Vekic (6-1, 7-6 (1)) and edged out wildcard Katie Boulter (5-7, 6-0, 7-5) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Dart, ranked No 103, won against American Madison Brengle (3-6, 6-1, 6-4), Swiss Jil Teichmann, the No 10 seed (7-6 (7), 4-6, 6-3) and Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (6-4, 2-6, 6-4).
