Australian Kimberly Birrell beat wildcard Dayeon Back 6-0, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Korea Open in Seoul on Thursday.

Birrell, ranked No 102 in the world, will play American Emina Bektas for a spot in the semi-finals. She is also through to the quarter-finals in doubles in Seoul, marking the first time that she’s advanced to the last eight in singles and doubles at a WTA level event.
