Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 3 seed, defeated Japanese Mai Hontama 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the second round of the Korea Open in Seoul on Monday.
Alexandrova, ranked No 22, will play Belgian Yanina Wickmayer next.
