Korea Open: Veronika Kudermetova joins sister in quarter-finals
Veronika Kudermetova will meet the winner of the match between American Amanda Anisimova and Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova in the next round
Veronika Kudermetova beat second seed Liudmila Samsonova 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the last eight of the Korea Open at the Olympic Park Tennis Center in Seoul on Wednesday.
Kudermetova, ranked No 44, will face the winner of the match between American Amanda Anisimova and Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova next.
This is the first time that Kudermetova has won back-to-back main draw matches on the WTA Tour since Charleston in April.
It was a good day for the Kudermetova family in Seoul with sister Polina also making the quarter-finals earlier in the day, with a win over seventh seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets.
Ahead of her victory, Veronika Kudermetova won against Chinese Shuai Zhang (6-4, 6-3).
