The American won against Jessika Ponchet 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday in the second round

American Ashlyn Krueger advanced to the last eight of the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships by defeating Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday.
Krueger, ranked No 123, will play Russian Anna Kalinskaya next.
Ahead of her victory, the 19-year-old American won against Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl, the No 8 seed (6-2, 6-3).
Ponchet, ranked No 140, beat Swiss Viktorija Golubic (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round.
