Kerber continues Indian Wells run with win over Kudermetova
Angelique Kerber won against Veronika Kudermetova 6-4, 7-5 on Sunday night and will face the winner of the match between Dane wildcard Caroline Wozniacki and American wildcard Katie Volynets in the next round
German Angelique Kerber defeated Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 17 seed, 6-4, 7-5 to move into the last 16 of the Indian Wells at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Sunday night.
Angelique Kerber will face the winner of the match between Dane wildcard Caroline Wozniacki and American wildcard Katie Volynets next.
In the previous rounds of the Indian Wells tournament, the 36-year-old German won against Croat Petra Martic (6-3, 6-4) and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 10 seed (5-7, 6-3, 6-3).
Kudermetova, ranked No 19, won against Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino (6-1, 7-5) in the previous round of the Indian Wells tournament.
